| Multi-impulsive Bulimia | Multi-impulsive Bulimia nervosa usually begins in the same way as simple bulimia. It is the heaviest tipe of bulimia. People from this multi-impulsive bulimia nervosa suffer from a variety of impulsive and self-destructive behavior, which indicate problems of emotional and impulse control. Often some of these other behaviours are already causing difficulty before the bulimia begins.
This sickness can be mixed with other problems including alcohol abuse, drug abuse, deliberate self-harm such as cutting of forearms, promiscuity and stealing. They have a range of backgrounds but it is quite common to find that there is a high level of disturbance within the family. In personality they are likely to have shown evidence of poor impulse control from an early age and they often have rather poor records of schooling and academic achievement.
They have a difficulty in modifying their behaviour because of predictable consequences of their actions and as a result helping them to change the pattern of their lives often requires prolonged help. The severity of the illness as with all types of bulimia is varied and in this group it seems to depend on severity of the underlying abnormality personality. They frequently need inpatient care in a highly structured environment to prevent them from acting out in self-destructive ways and to teach them successful methods to control their impulses and cope with other emotional and social problems. The best way to treat bulimia is to begin with a comprehensive diagnosis from an experienced medical professional.
